Butt Fusion Welding

Butt fusion welding is the most common and widely used method for joining HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipes. This process involves heating the ends of two pipes until they become molten, then pressing them together under controlled pressure to form a strong, seamless joint. Once cooled, the weld becomes as strong as—or even stronger than—the original pipe.

Butt fusion is ideal for long, continuous runs of pipe and is widely used in water, gas, sewer, and irrigation infrastructure due to its durability, leak resistance, and ability to withstand high pressures and environmental stress.

Electrofusion Welding

Electrofusion welding is a highly reliable method used to join HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipes and fittings. Unlike traditional butt welding, electrofusion uses special fittings with built-in electrical heating elements. When an electric current is applied, the heating elements melt the inside of the fitting and the outside of the pipe, creating a strong, uniform, and leak-proof joint once cooled.

This technique is ideal for applications requiring precision and strength—such as gas, water, sewer, and irrigation systems—and is especially useful in confined or hard-to-reach spaces where other welding methods may not be practical.

At S R Poly, our trained technicians use certified electrofusion equipment and follow strict quality standards to ensure long-lasting, compliant welds on every project.

Gas Mainlaying

Gas poly pipe mainlaying is the process of installing polyethylene (PE) pipes to transport natural gas. It involves excavating a trench or using trenchless methods, laying flexible and corrosion-resistant PE pipe, joining sections by butt fusion or electrofusion, pressure testing the line for leaks, and then backfilling the trench. This method is widely used for its durability, safety, and ease of installation in both urban and rural areas.
